The San Diego Padres will send resurgent Chan Ho Park to the mound when they continue a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners at Petco Park on Saturday.

Park (5-3, 4.15 ERA) is 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA over his last four starts. He gave up three runs and five hits over 6 2-3 innings to earn the victory in a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.

The veteran right-hander is making his second start of the year against the Mariners (36-39) after he was tagged for 10 earned runs - the most he's allowed since June 21, 1998 - over 5 1-3 innings in a 10-8 loss on May 21.

''All I could do is get more innings to save the bullpen,'' said Park, who had been 4-0 with a 1.71 ERA in his previous five starts against Seattle.

He wasn't the only starter to have trouble for San Diego (39-34) when it was swept May 19-21 at Safeco Field. The Mariners batted .308 with six homers and scored 23 runs.

Jake Peavy and two relievers combined to defeat Seattle on Friday, scattering eight hits in a 2-1, 10-inning victory. Peavy recorded nine of Seattle's 12 strikeouts and the Mariners failed to homer against the Padres for the first time this year.

San Diego's Brian Giles singled home Rob Bowen with the winning run in the 10th inning after throwing out Richie Sexson at the plate in the ninth.

''I'm just trying to stick my big body right on top of home plate and make sure no one scores,'' said Bowen who survived his collision with the 6-foot-8 Sexson. ''I set up for the worse case scenario. So I'm going to make sure that I hold on to the ball whether he runs me over or tries to slide around me or do whatever.

''I'm just getting ready. In that situation you can't think about who's running, you just have to hold on to the ball.''

Giles has hit safely in seven straight games, going 13-for-28 with six RBIs.

Mike Cameron added a solo homer against his former team for San Diego, which improved to 15-9 in one-run games this year. The NL West-leading Padres have won seven of their last 10 games.

Sexson was hitless in four at-bats and fell to 1-for-15 against San Diego this season. He's batting a career-low .211 this year.

Ichiro Suzuki and Jose Lopez combined to go 1-for-8 in Friday's loss for the Mariners. Suzuki and Lopez went 9-for-26 in May against the Padres.

The Mariners have lost two straight after starting 8-0 in interleague play. They've lost seven of their last nine games at San Diego.

Seattle starter Jamie Moyer (4-6, 3.58) is 0-3 with a 7.00 ERA over his last three outings on the road. He's 5-5 with a 4.07 ERA in 13 career starts against the Padres.

Moyer beat San Francisco in his last outing by giving up one run and six hits over eight innings in a 5-1 victory on Sunday. He did not issue a walk for only the third time in 15 starts.

The 43-year-old left-hander is 15-7 with a 2.57 ERA in his career in interleague play.
