NY YANKEES 13, DETROIT 3

LAKELAND, Florida (Ticker) -- Rookie Bubba Crosby hit an inside-the-park grand slam in the fourth inning to power the New York Yankees to a 13-3 romp over the Detroit Tigers in a Grapefruit League game.

With center fielder Andres Torres shaded toward left field, Crosby lined a pitch into right-center and scored easily to give the Yankees a 5-0 lead.

Former Tiger Ruben Sierra hit a solo homer off starter Jeremy Bonderman in the second inning to open the scoring. Hideki Matsui and Tony Clark added two-run homers in the seventh off Matt Anderson , who is trying to bounce back from arm troubles.

Considered Detroit's closer of the future when he had 22 saves in 2001, Anderson has pitched just 34 1/3 innings over the last two seasons.

Javier Vazquez allowed two hits with one walk and five strikeouts in five scoreless innings for the win.

Bonderman was reached for four runs and three hits with four walks and a pair of strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.

The crowd of 8,674 was a record at Joker Marchant Stadium, which was remodeled in 2003.
