CHATTANOOGA... OF STEPHEN SMITHERMAN capped a six-run outburst in the bottom of the eighth inning with a two-run double to help rally his team for a 6-5 win over Mobile August 23. After being shut out on just three hits through the first seven frames, Chattanooga used five hits and an error to plate four runs in the eighth before Smitherman plated the decisive runs with his 21st double of the year. The following night, RHP JOSH HALL tossed a complete game and 1B JESSE GUTIERREZ knocked in four runs to give the Lookouts an 8-1 triumph over Mobile. Hall allowed six hits and one run and struck out four batters over nine innings to get the win. Gutierrez blasted a grand slam in the third inning. Smitherman was recalled by Cincinnati on August 25 after he hit .310 with 73 RBI...

After OF BRYAN ANDERSON ripped an RBI double with two outs in the seventh to tie the score at 7-7 and SS JEFF BANNON drew a walk to put runners at first and second, Dehart replaced RHP BRETT GRAY at the plate and drilled an offering from Jose Nunez over the outfield wall for his first home run in just 14 career at-bats.
