Largest trades in baseball history

The New York Mets pulled off a three-team, 11-player trade Monday night, acquiring Jeromy Burnitz and Jeff D'Amico from Milwaukee and sending Glendon Rusch to the Brewers and Todd Zeile to Colorado. The deal was the biggest -- in terms of numbers -- in the majors since 1994. Only five trades in the modern era involved more players:

Jan. 1900 -- Louisville traded Honus Wagner, Patsy Flaherty, Deacon Phillippe, Walt Woods, Rube Waddell, Icebox Chamberlain, Chief Zimmer, Tacks Latimer, Claude Ritchey, Fred Clarke, Tommy Leach, Mike Kelly, Conny Doyle and Tom Massitt to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Jack Chesbro, Paddy Fox, John O'Brien, Art Madison and $25,000.
Nov. 18, 1954 -- Baltimore Orioles traded Bob Turley, Don Larsen and Billy Hunter to New York Yankees for Harry Byrd, Jim McDonald, Hal Smith, Gus Triandos, Gene Woodling and Willie Miranda. Deal completed on Dec. 1 when Baltimore traded Dick Kryhoski, Mike Blyzka, Darrell Johnson and Jim Fridley to New York for Bill Miller, Kal Segrist, Don Leppert, Ted Del Guercio and player to be named later.

Nov. 20, 1957 -- Kansas City Athletics traded Billy Martin, Gus Zernial, Tom Morgan, Lou Skizas, Mickey McDermott and Tim Thompson to Detroit Tigers for Bill Tuttle, Jim Small, Duke Maas, John Tsitouris, Frank House, Kent Hadley and Jim McManus.

Feb. 19, 1957 -- Kansas City Athletics traded Art Ditmar, Bobby Shantz, Jack McMahan, Wayne Belardi and two players to be named later to the New York Yankees for Billy Hunter, Rip Coleman, Tom Morgan, Mickey McDermott, Milt Graff and Irv Noren. Curt Roberts was sent to New York on April 4 and Clete Boyer was sent to New York on June 4 to complete deal.
Dec. 28, 1994 -- Houston Astros traded Ken Caminiti, Steve Finley, Andujar Cedeno, Roberto Petagine, Brian Williams and a player to be named later to the San Diego Padres for Phil Plantier, Derek Bell, Pedro A. Martinez, Doug Brocail, Craig Shipley and Ricky Guttierez.

Feb. 10, 1916 -- Chicago Federal League team sold Mordecai Brown, Clem Clemens, Mickey Doolan, Bill Fischer, Max Flack, Claude Hendrix, Les Mann, Dykes Potter, Joe Tinker, Rollie Zeider and George McConnell to Chicago Cubs for cash.
Feb. 10, 1916 -- St. Louis Federal League team sold Eddie Plank, Babe Borton, Harry Chapman, Doc Crandall, Charlie Deal, Bob Groom, Grover Hartley, Amando Marsans, Ward Miller, Johnny Tobin and Ernie Johnson to St. Louis American League team for cash.
Dec. 16, 1953 -- New York Yankees traded Jim Finigan, Dan Bollweg, John Gray, Jim Robertson, Vic Power and Bill Renna to the Philadelphia Athletics for Harry Byrd, Eddie Robinson, Tom Hamilton, Carmen Mauro and Lauren Babe.
Dec. 8, 1980 -- San Diego Padres traded Rollie Fingers, Bob Shirley, Gene Tenace and Bob Geren to St. Louis Cardinals for Terry Kennedy, Steve Swisher, Mike Phillips, John Littlefield, John Urrea, Kim Seaman and Al Olmsted.
Dec. 12, 1980 -- Seattle Mariners traded Rick Honeycutt, Mario Mendoza, Larry Cox, Leon Roberts and Willie Horton to the Texas Rangers for Richie Zisk, Rick Auerbach, Ken Clay, Jerry Don Gleaton, Brian Allard and Steve Finch.
Jan. 21, 2002 -- The New York Mets acquired Jeff D'Amico, Jeromy Burnitz, Lou Collier, Mark Sweeney and cash from Milwaukee, and Ross Gload and Craig House from Colorado. Sent LHP Glendon Rusch to Milwaukee, and Todd Zeile, Benny Agbayani, Lenny Harris and cash to Colorado. Milwaukee also received Alex Ochoa from Colorado.

June 4, 1953 -- Chicago Cubs traded Toby Atwell, Bob Schultz, Preston Ward, George Freese, Bob Addis, Gene Hermanski and $150,000 to Pittsburgh Pirates for Catfish Metkovich, Joe Garagiola, Ralph Kiner and Howie Pollet.
Oct. 11, 1971 -- Milwaukee Brewers traded Marty Pattin, Lew Krausse, Tommy Harper and Pat Skrable to Boston Red Sox for George Scott, Billy Conigliaro, Joe Lahoud, Jim Lonborg, Ken Brett and Don Pavletich.
June 15, 1976 -- New York Yankees traded Rudy May, Dave Pagan, Scott McGregor, Tippy Martinez and Rick Dempsey to Baltimore Orioles for Ken Holtzman, Doyle Alexander, Grant Jackson, Ellie Hendricks and Jimmy Freeman.
Nov. 10, 1978 -- New York Yankees traded Sparky Lyle, Domingo Ramos, Mike Heath, Larry McCall, Dave Rajsich and cash to Texas Rangers for Dave Righetti, Juan Beniquez, Mike Griffin, Paul Mirabella and Greg Jemison.
