The last time the Braves faced a former teammate who spent more time with the team was May 20, 1965, when they defeated Warren Spahn. AP

ATLANTA (AP) -- New York lefty Tom Glavine got knocked around in his return to Turner Field on Saturday, leaving in the fourth inning with the Mets trailing the Atlanta Braves 5-0.

Glavine, who pitched for the Braves for 16 seasons, lasted only 3 1/3 innings against his old team. Jaime Cerda relieved and gave up a two-run homer to Gary Sheffield, back-to-back singles by Chipper Jones and Andruw Jones and a three-run shot to Robert Fick. That made it 10-0.

Glavine gave up six runs on eight hits -- including homers to Andruw Jones and Javy Lopez -- and slowly walked off the mound to a mixture of cheers and boos.

In the third, New York manager Art Howe and trainer Scott Lowrenson went to the mound to visit Glavine, who apparently was having trouble with his pitching hand.

Glavine stayed in and retired Fick on a flyout to center to end the inning, then returned for the fourth. Lopez led off that inning with a towering home run to center field, his fourth in three games, and Glavine left after allowing a single to Vinny Castilla and a ground-rule double to Rafael Furcal.

Jones hit his solo shot to lead off the second, taking a changeup 409 feet to left-center.
