BIOGRAPHY: Brewer is a lock-down defender, perhaps the top defensive player in this draft. His 69 steals in 2006-07 ranked third in the SEC. The small forward put on an excellent defensive display in the Final Four, limiting UCLA star Arron Afflalo to 5-for-14 shooting in the semifinals before holding Ohio State guard Ron Lewis to 12 points in the title game. Although defense is Brewer's calling card, he also played some of the best offense of his career in the 2007 NCAA tournament, reaching double figures in all six contests and averaging 15.8 points to help Florida win its second straight national championship. Brewer averaged 14.1 points in nine games versus ranked opponents in 2006-07, and 13.2 overall. He is a solid rebounder who averaged 4.7 rebounds per game last season. Brewer made 99 3-pointers in his three years with the Gators. He needs to improve his ballhandling and has a reputation as a streaky player. Brewer is a virtual lock to be chosen in the lottery, and will likely go in the top 10.
