BIOGRAPHY: Wright's decision to forgo his final two seasons at Kansas and enter the 2007 NBA draft didn't come as much of a surprise as he is considered one of the most versatile players available. His long arms and wing span allow him to play much bigger than his size. Despite his size, Wright is a great passer who sees the floor well. Averaged 12.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists this past season. Helped Kansas win back-to-back Big 12 tournament titles, but has been criticized for his inconsistency. Scored 15 or more points 11 times, but was held to single digits in 15 games. Scored a season-high 33 points on 14-of-21 shooting in a win over Missouri, but followed that with an eight-point effort in a victory over Colorado. He was twice held to a season-low four points. Some of that inconsistency may be due to shooting struggles outside of 15 feet. Pretty consistent from 15 feet, but not much beyond that and lacks a 3-point shot. Needs to develop his shot to make an impact at the NBA level. Despite his ups and downs, Wright is an explosive player who can beat his defender with a quick first step. Likes to attack the hoop and is a strong finisher. Defends well, uses his long arms tend to cause problems for opponents. Runs the floor well and seems to have a nose for the ball. Unselfish player who gets his teammates involved, but sometimes to a fault as he doesn't always take control on offense when he should. Ability to play four positions on the floor has him projected to be one of the top 10 picks.
