BIOGRAPHY: Conley is best known as Greg Oden's high school and college teammate and best friend, but appears ready to step out of Oden's shadow. Even as a freshman, Conley was arguably the best point guard in the nation, always thinking team first. He averaged 11.3 points and 6.1 assists per game while shooting 51.8 percent. Had six 10-assist games. Has been criticized for being too unselfish at times. Enjoyed an excellent Final Four, with 35 points, 12 assists and only three turnovers. In the championship game loss to Florida, Conley had 20 points, six assists, four steals and shot 7-for-13 from the floor. An excellent athlete, unselfish with the ball and cool under pressure - attributes which indicate the 19-year-old could mature into a true team leader in the NBA. Tends to be better at penetrating to the basket than shooting from the perimeter, less-than-ideal range for a guard. Average size for a point guard, but long arms allow him to play bigger than he is. His quickness and athletic ability make him a strong perimeter defender. Will likely be the first point guard off the board in the first round, and is a probable top 10 selection. Has all the skills to star in the NBA, but lacks experience and may need some time to develop.
