BIOGRAPHY: After a sensational freshman season at North Carolina, Wright has the potential to be a top pick. With his long, lean frame and soft touch around the basket, Wright ranked second on the Tar Heels with 14.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. A 7-foot-2 wingspan makes him outstanding around the basket, grabbing rebounds and blocking shots. Wright, 19, started all 37 games this past season, and seemed to show improvements each time he stepped on the court. He shot 64.6 percent, leading the ACC while setting the league's freshman record. He was the ACC rookie of the year and was named most valuable player of the league tournament for helping the Tar Heels win their first title in nine years. Has great hands and impressive footwork. Incredibly athletic for a player his size. Moves in the paint with ease, and can run the floor well. While Wright was able to dominate inside in college, he needs to add significant upper-body strength to his slender frame. Most teams will try to have him add at least 20 pounds of bulk. The only other downside to this young star is his free-throw shooting. Wright connected on just 56.7 percent (89-for-157) of his foul shots, something that he should be able to improve considering he has such a soft touch. Extremely quick, and should be able to help any team looking for a solid post player. He is expected to be among the top 10 picks, and be selected as high as third.
