BIOGRAPHY: After redshirting his first year, Plaisted showed a lot of promise his freshman season, averaging 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds, but his numbers dropped off slightly the following year. The decline didn't continue this season, however, when he averaged 15.6 points and 7.7 rebounds - both career highs. Plaisted is left-handed which forces his opponents to adjust, but he also is able to use his right hand effectively, although he's obviously not as comfortable as when he finishes with his left. He has good height and exceptional speed and mobility for a big man, but has short arms which affected his rebounding numbers and limited his ability to block shots (1.0 per game in 2007-08). He's a poor free-throw shooter (54.2 percent this season) and also averaged a career-worst 2.4 turnovers per game in 2007-08. He's able to work his way inside and has developed a consistent hook shot. Despite the physical nature of his play, he's missed just one game due to injury. Considered to have poor focus despite being an upperclassman and can be inconsistent at times. Late in the 2007-08 season, his numbers dropped off. Plaisted could stand to gain some weight to help him compete at the next level. Likely a late first or early second-round pick.
