BIOGRAPHY: Erden will be 22 years old by the time the 2008-09 season begins, but there's little chance he'll be on an NBA roster by then. With that said, he could be a valuable commodity at draft time because of his size and upside. Since beginning his professional career at the age of 18 with Darussafaka in the Turkish League in 2003-04, Erden has never averaged more than 7.1 points. He averaged 6.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in his recently completed Euroleague season, but he only played 19.3 minutes per game and missed time due to a knee injury. His minutes have been limited because his development is taking considerable time. He's very raw in the low post and while he isn't shy about demanding the ball, his skills around the basket leave something to be desired. The best part of Erden's offensive game is his aggressiveness, as he will try to get to the hoop and dunk whenever possible instead of settling for short jumpers. He runs the floor well and can effectively play the pick-and-roll game on offense. His aggressive offensive nature carries over on defense, and he's turned into an effective one-on-one defender but he's not great at rotating over against strong ball movement. When things aren't going well, however, Erden tends to sulk on the court, so his attitude is a bit of a question. Still, his frame and the skills he's briefly displayed - along with his assertive nature - should be enough for him to get selected in the second round.
