BIOGRAPHY: Tomic has the potential to be an effective finesse big man in the NBA with his array of post moves and nice touch on mid-range jumpers. He's also a skilled ball-handler and strong passer thanks to a stint at point guard before he grew eight inches in one year. As skilled as he is offensively, like a lot of young international centers, Tomic will need to bulk up before he can be successful against an NBA frontline. He has tremendous height and length, but has struggled to add muscle to his frame despite spending an extra year with KK Zagreb of the Adriatic League after withdrawing from last year's draft. The 21-year-old could also benefit from adding some aggressiveness to his game. He's fluid on offense, but rarely attacks the basket. He's a strong rebounder on the defensive end, but doesn't often body up against opponents - perhaps another drawback stemming from his lankiness. Despite the holes in his game, Tomic could be selected late in the second round. NBA general managers Danny Ferry of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Mitch Kupchak of the Los Angeles Lakers have made scouting trips to Croatia with Tomic at the top of their watch lists - evidence that NBA teams are always looking for a big man that can score.
