BIOGRAPHY: Ponkrashov played 38 games in the Russian A SuperLeague, averaging 9.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists with CSKA Moscow before being loaned to BC Khimiki for the ULEB Cup season. His numbers in those 14 games, three of which he started, dropped slightly (8.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists), but he did see more playing time and played with and against a higher quality of players. Ponkrashov would likely benefit from more time in Europe considering he's not very NBA-ready. He has good size for a guard, but often fails to take advantage of mismatches, preferring passing to shooting. He's a poor shooter with bad mechanics and not much range, although he's shown signs of improving, shooting 45.7 percent in the ULEB Cup after making 43.8 percent of his shots while with CSKA. Ponkrashov is an unselfish player that has good vision on the court, but he's not extremely athletic and combined with his poor shooting, he doesn't have many upside. He's also too reliant on his left hand and struggles going to the right. Could be a late second-round pick.
