BIOGRAPHY: Hackett was born in Italy, his father is a former Italian league player, and he played with the Italian national team over
the summer between his sophomore and junior seasons at Southern California. Once back in Los Angeles, Hackett averaged 12.3
points, 4.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 2008-09, numbers he deemed good enough to declare himself for the draft. Hackett,
though, likely should have stayed in school another season. Despite solid numbers the past two seasons, he was overshadowed
by one-and-done freshmen O.J. Mayo and DeMar DeRozan, and could have benefited from being a more focal point of the offense
in his senior season. Hackett isn't great in one area offensively - he's an adequate passer and rebounder and is a solid but
not spectacular shooter. His biggest positive is his ability to defend both guard positions, and that's ultimately what may
be enough to get him drafted. Due to his overseas connections, Hackett has decided to appear at the Reebok Eurocamp in June
rather than a stateside predraft camp, a curious decision but one that may ultimately help him stand out where he might otherwise
not. Hackett likely won't get a look in the first round, but with an impressive camp in Treviso he could be picked in the
second round.
