Biography: The 21-year-old Vaty has put up solid but not spectacular stats in France's top professional league, but his NBA-ready physique and athleticism could prompt a team to take a gamble on him late in the draft. Vaty's scoring and rebounding averages increased each season he played for Pau-Orthez, which he joined in 2006-07. He topped out at 11.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in 2008-09, after which Pau-Orthez was relegated to the country's B league. Signed to a two-year deal by Entente Orleans in July, Vaty averaged 8.1 points on 57 percent shooting and 4.8 rebounds while playing center for that club. The projected power forward will likely need some polishing before he can consistently contribute at the NBA level, but he has shown the ability to contribute to a winning club. Vaty helped France earn a gold medal at the 2004 Under-16 European championships and a silver at the 2006 Under-18 competition. He was also part of a team that took the bronze at the 2007 Under-19 world championships.
