Biography: A promising forward with impressive strength and athletic ability, Caracter has some attitude problems that could see him fall into the second round or go undrafted after once being considered a potential lottery pick. He's proved throughout his collegiate career that he's capable of playing at a high level, but he endured two tumultuous seasons at Louisville, falling out of favor with coach Rick Pitino. Caracter had weight and attitude issues at Louisville and found himself on the bench. He declared for the 2008 draft, but opted to return to college and transferred to UTEP in an effort to repair his image. Caracter had his best season with the Miners, averaging 14.1 points and 8.1 rebounds, ranking seventh in Conference USA. His play also helped them win the regular season conference title, while reaching the NCAA tournament only to fall 77-59 in the opening round to Butler. Caracter's size and physique are considered primed for a move to the NBA. However, he's known for being lazy and sloppy with the ball, committing a team-high 77 turnovers last season. While his character and attitude are issues, he excelled against strong opponents, shooting 63.6 percent while averaging 18.6 points and 9.6 rebounds in five games against Top 25 teams. He may have a lot to prove to scouts, but his athletic ability, shooting range and variety of moves could be very attractive to an NBA team.
