Biography: Macklin had an impressive showing at the Portsmouth Invitational predraft camp, but it remains to be seen if it'll be enough to boost his stock. Macklin is already 24 years old, which doesn't sit well with NBA scouts hoping for a young talent. His transfer from Georgetown to Florida resulted in him sitting out the 2008-09 season, resulting in a year lost to impress teams. The power forward is doing all he can to be recognized now, showing some potential in Portsmouth. Macklin scored often around the basket, throwing down dunks and using a smooth right-handed hook shot. He'll need to develop more post moves if he's to take his game to the next level because of a weak jumper. Macklin rarely played away from the rim at the camp and at Florida, making him one-dimensional on the offensive end. He has a big body and is very physical. His long wingspan allows him to adjust shots regularly, though Macklin doesn't often find himself in good enough position to actually make the block. Macklin's rebounding ability also has come into question due to his lack of positioning and ability to read the shot. His attitude and work ethic, however, make him an intriguing player who is willing to do whatever it takes to be successful. Macklin seems aware of his weaknesses and appears willing to improve them, which could lead to a team selecting him in the second round.
