COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- A new era of Missouri basketball officially began early Saturday when the Tigers took to the court with their first new coach in more than three decades.

Missouri's Midnight Madness, a 20-minute running clock scrimmage that was won by Black 45-33, marked the start of the Quin Snyder era in Columbia. Snyder assumed the helm in April when Norm Stewart retired after 32 seasons as the Missouri coach.

"Era is a flattering word," Snyder said. "It means you've been somewhere for a long time and done a pretty good job. Hopefully we'll do that. I don't know if we'll be able to judge that based on tonight."

Tiger players have been practicing together five days a week during the fall and going through individual workouts with the coaching staff. But that didn't dampen their enthusiasm for scrimmaging at the stroke of midnight.

"The whole town has been talking about basketball since late April," Brian Grawer said. "Everybody is waiting for it and is excited for this. I'm just glad to be a part of it."

Grawer and Johnnie Parker scored 12 points apiece to lead the Black squad. Tajudeen Soyeye, a junior college transfer originally from Nigeria, led the White team with 11 points.

Freshman and veterans alike are preparing for something new this season. Snyder, an assistant at Duke the past four years, brings a more up-tempo gameplan than Missouri is accustomed to. "We don't really know what our style is going to be," Jeff Hafer said. "No one knows what to expect. I'm a senior, I've been here three years, but I feel like a freshman. Like everyone else, I'm just waiting to get going."
