EAST (1) Duke 78 , (12) SW Missouri State 61 Recap Box Score
Duke SG Trajan Langdon: 24 pts, 8 reb
The Blue Devils didn't win by 40, but they still put their many weapons on display. But Duke better recognize that whipping relatively small-time opponents is hardly the best way to toughen up for the Final Four. SWMS coach Steve Alford is rumored to be the next coach at Iowa.

Duke: East regional finals Sunday vs. (6) Temple
SWMS: Season over
MIDWEST (1) Michigan St. 54 , (13) Oklahoma 46 Recap
Michigan St SF Morris Peterson: 11 pts, 7 reb
Despite crashing the defensive boards with all five players, Oklahoma couldn't sustain its Cinderella pace after the Sooners' shooting touch abandoned them (33% FG, 4-15 3-pt.). The Spartans wore OU down with the running game.
MSU: Midwest regional finals Sunday vs. (3) Kentucky/(10) Miami winner
Okla: Season over
EAST (6) Temple 77 , (10) Purdue 55 Recap Box Score
Temple SF Mark Karcher: 21 pts, 4 reb,
The Boilermakers (45% FG, 59% 3-pt) solved Temple's matchup zone defense, but couldn't stop the Owls' hot offense (53% FG). Purdue can take heart that getting to the Sweet 16 was about two rounds more than it was projected, but Temple gets no time to celebrate -- Duke's up next.

SOUTH (3) St. John's 76 , (2) Maryland 62 Recap Box Score
St. John's PG Erick Barkley: 24 pts, 9 ast, 3-5 3-pt., 2 stl, 11-14 FT
Call the Red Storm "in the zone." The 2-3 defense that worked so well against Indiana in the second round stifled the Terps, leading to a game-breaking 20-0 St. John's run at the end of the first half.
SJU: South regional finals Saturday vs. (4) Ohio St.
UMD: Season over
WEST (10) Gonzaga 73 , (6) Florida 72 Recap Box Score
Gonzaga SF Richie Frahm: 17 pts (5-8 3-pt), 5 reb, 4 ast
Here comes the Calvary: Gonzaga's pressure defense forced a Florida turnover with a few seconds left to play, then Casey Calvary leapt over the Gators for the game-winning tip-in. The Bulldogs are a game from the Final Four and their bandwagon is getting crowded.
Gonzaga: West regional finals Saturday vs. (1) UConn
Fla.: Season over
SOUTH (4) Ohio St. 72 , (1) Auburn 64 Recap Box Score
Ohio State PG Scoonie Penn and SG Michael Redd: Combined for 48 pts (5-10 3-pt), 13 reb
Perhaps Auburn, unaccustomed to the glare of a No. 1 seed or season-long national attention, wilted under the pressure. But let's give the Buckeyes some credit -- their backcourt is the best in the nation right now, and Penn is in one of those zones of '98 Art Lee-Andre Miller vintage.
Ohio St.: South regional finals Saturday vs. (3) St. John's
Auburn: Season over
WEST (1) UConn 78 , (5) Iowa 68 Recap
Box Score
UConn PG Khalid El-Amin: 21 pts
Take a note, Gonzaga: UConn doesn't like to be pressed or pushed around. Superior speed won the game for the Huskies, but they certainly didn't look dominating doing it. A fond farewell to out-going Iowa coach Tom Davis, who leaves on an over-achieving high note and with dignity and respect not shown by the Iowa athletic department.
