LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- Summer Erb dominated the low post, scoring 34 points and scooping up 18 rebounds Saturday as North Carolina State took a 76-57 victory over Mississippi State in a first-round NCAA Midwest Regional game.

The Wolfpack (17-11) built a 14-point lead early in the second half to seal the win. Leading 33-28 at the half, Monica Bates hit a three pointer and Erb hit a layup to give North Carolina State a 40-30 lead with 16:23 left.

With 15:20 left, Erb powered in a layup then grabbed a defensive rebound leading to a layup by Tynesha Lewis to give the Wolfpack a 44-30 lead. Mississippi State (17-11) never threatened the rest of the game.

Mississippi State got off to a quick start, building a seven-point lead with 16:55 remaining in the first half. But North Carolina State, led by the Erb, slowly crept back to tie the game at 17-17 with 9:10 left.

Latoya Graham and Nitra Perry led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points apiece. Jennifer Fambrough scored 14 points.

Erb and Bates, who finished with 18 points, combined for 33 of the Wolfpack's 43 points in second half.
