F Rhese Gibson , 6-7, Sr.
Played 29 games last year and bolsters the defense.
Key Newcomer
G Demetrius Hunter , 6-1, Fr.
Top recruit who should bring outside touch to Hoyas' backcourt.
Key Games

Feb. 27 at Syracuse
Outlook
The Hoyas have a top recruiting class, a coach who will have the full preseason to implement his own style, and a solid backcourt with which to work. That's not bad, even if the long shadow of John Thompson (inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame) is still hard to ignore. Georgetown is not far from returning to the upper tier of Big East teams, and the added experience given to a young set of guards last year should bode well in the close games down the road. Boumtje Boumtje is developing into the latest Hoya presence in the paint, and his upside remains high. Underestimating Georgetown is risky, but expecting the Hoyas to emerge as a Top 25 team is asking too much, at least this year. They may be the type of team that could hang around the Big East tournament for awhile, though.
