Marquette
1998-99 record
14-15 overall, 6-10 C-USA
Coach
Tom Crean, first season
Projected starting lineup
F Jon Harris, 6-7, So.
Started six games last season and has potential to be a solid rebounder.

F Ouloma Nnamaka
The Golden Eagles' top all-around player returned from an early-season lower back injury to average 6.7 points and 4.9 rebounds last season.

C John Mueller, 6-10, Jr.
A big body in the paint who led Marquette with 18 blocks last season.

G Cordell Henry, 5-9, So.
Played 30 or more minutes in 18 games, and Crean envisions an increased role for him.

G Brian Wardle, 6-5, Jr. A streaky three-point shooter who hit a last-second trey to beat Louisville as a freshman.

Top guy off the bench
G John Cliff, 6-2, Sr.
With 89 career appearances, Cliff adds experience off the bench. He was fourth in C-USA last season hitting 38.5 percent of his three-point attempts.
Key Newcomer
Crean, the 34-year-old former Michigan State assistant. He's dynamic, a proven recruiter and should infuse the sleepy Golden Eagles' program with much-needed enthusiasm.
Key Games
Dec. 23 at Wisconsin, The Eagles are 49-56 against their in-state rival.
Feb. 13, at Louisville, Mike Deane's churlish antics and recent close games have made this a heated conference rivalry.
Outlook
This is a rebuilding year. The starting lineup isn't imposing but isn't awful either. Junior transfer Brian Barone of Texas A&M will be able to spell Henry, and Wardle, who struggled at times last season, is capable of scoring streaks. The most important thing for Crean is to establish himself as a coach and get Mike Deane's players to believe in him.
