Projected starting lineup

F Matt Baniak, 6-9, Jr. After a productive freshman season, Baniak missed open shots and averaged just 5.3 points per game as a sophomore. F Justin Tatum, 6-7, Jr. After needing a year-and-a-half to get eligible, Tatum averaged 7.2 points in 22 games last season. C Chris Heinrich, 6-11, Jr. Struggled as a role player last season, averaging just 2.9 rebounds and 3.5 points per game. G Justin Love, 6-2, Sr. The Billikens second-leading scorer last season (13.7 ppg) and their best perimeter threat (.378 from three-point range). G Dave Fergerson, 6-0, Sr. An experienced point guard who'll have to fend off juco transfer Maurice Jeffers.

Top guy off the bench

G Marque Perry, 6-1, Fr. A speedy guard and Top 100 prospect who was Charlie Spoonhour's last gift to Saint Louis before retiring.

Key Newcomer

G Jeffers, 6-4, Jr. Averaged 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds at Westark Community College.

Key Games

Dec. 30 vs. Kansas, One of the few quality nonconference opponents on the Billikens' schedule. Jan. 15 at UNC-Charlotte, Saint Louis split with the 49ers last season, with their loss coming by two points in overtime at Halton Arena.

Outlook

Spoonball will be missed, but Romar promises an entertaining style all his own. Last season the Billikens finished 10th in C-USA in scoring (65.3 points per game) and ninth in shooting percentage (.423), but this season they will scrap the lull-you-to-sleep half-court offense for a run-and-gun style. Sound strange? Sure, at Saint Louis. But Romar has the athletes to do it.
