Tulane
1998-99 record
12-15 overall, 6-10 C-USA
Coach
Perry Clark, 165-134 (10 seasons)
Projected starting lineup
G Waitari Marsh, 6-2, So.
When Marlo Miles had academic troubles, Marsh dazzled the Wave with his open-court theatrics.

G Dylan Osean, 6-4, Sr.
A starter in all 27 games last season, Osean is Tulane's best 3-point shooter (.385).

C Morris Jordan, 6-10, Sr.
Was a defensive liability and only pulled down 4.1 rebounds per game.

F Ledaryl Billingsley, 6-7, Jr.
Became a full-time starter in February and had four straight double-doubles.

F Sterling Davis, 6-7, Sr.
Shot nearly 50 percent from the floor and averaged 9.8 points per game in 1998-99.

Top guy off the bench
G Marlo Miles, 6-1 Sr.
Missed 13 games last season with academic troubles but shot 41.7 percent in the 14 games he did play.
Key Newcomer
G Brandon Spann, 6-1, New Orleans.
Clark has compared Spann, a level-headed point guard, to former Louisville guard DeJuan Wheat.
Key Games
vs. Fordham (Nov. 17). The Green Wave open the season in the New Orleans Arena. Will anyone show?
vs. New Orleans (Jan. 24). A rare in-city rivalry in the New Orleans Arena. Will anyone show?
Outlook
What a time to open a 20,000-seat arena. The Green Wave are coming off their second straight losing season, a first in Perry Clark's 10-year tenure, and averaged just 1,700 fans in the 3,600-seat Fogelman Arena last season. Leading scorer and in-state prep star Byron Mouton transferred to Maryland, leaving Tulane's lineup bereft of experienced talent. Perhaps that's why the Wave will play only six of their 17 home games in the New Orleans Arena. Another losing season -- both at the box office and in the record book -- could put Clark's career in jeopardy.
