UAB
1998-99 record
20-12 overall, 10-6 C-USA (lost to Iowa in NCAA first round)
Coach
Murry Bartow, 59-38 (three seasons)
Projected starting lineup
G Eric Holmes, 6-3, Sr.
The Blazers' leading returning scorer after averaging 9.2 points per game last season.

G LeAndrew Bass, 6-3, Jr.
Should run the point but needs to be more attentive to distributing the ball.

F Myron Ransom, 6-5, Jr.
Had a weak sophomore season, averaging 3.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

F Torrey Ward, 6-3, Sr.
One of two returning starters, is a slashing swingman and rebounder.

F Mark Kimbrough, 6-5, Jr.
The all-time leading scorere at Pensacola Junior College with 1,308 points in two seasons.

Top guy off the bench
C Igor Nikolic, 7-1 Jr.
Needs to improve his all-around game to bolster the Blazers' relatively small frontline.
Key Newcomer
F Chico Moore, 6-7, Lafayette, Ala.
He might loss considerable minutes at the five spot if Nikolic, a native of Serbia doesn't progress.
Key Games
at Auburn (Nov. 19). The Tigers are the in-state power, at least this season.
vs. Alabama A&M (Feb. 23). After the pounding they'll take from Auburn, the Blazers will need to regroup with a win.
Outlook
Gone are second-team all-conference pick Fred Williams, Damon Cobb and Willie Mitchell, the best sixth man in C-USA last season. Enter eight new faces. It's a rebuilding year. The foundation is Holmes, Ward and Bass with Kimbrough likely to make an immediate impact. But don't look for the Blazers, who have won 18, 21 and 20 games in Bartow's first three seasons, to be dancing in March.
