Arizona Wildcats vs. Duke Blue Devils
Screen and Roll

April 02, 2001
by: Sportvision

College basketball fans are in for a real treat, as two of the nations elite programs square off for the national title. Arizona and Duke share a lot in common. Both are immensely talented, but have the heart few teams can match, and are playing their best basketball when they need it the most. And both teams have plenty of guys that can take the big shot that win games. All year long Duke has called the high screen and roll on offense, usually with devastating success. Carlos Boozer was superb against Maryland in the semifinals, and his presence makes the play that much more difficult to defend. But the Wildcats have defensive stoppers; they harassed Michigan State's offense all game long, creating turnovers and easy scoring opportunities. Watch to see how this play develops. Whoever makes it work, whether it's a Duke three-pointer or an Arizona steal and dunk, will have a great chance at winning the game.

  • If Arizona plays Duke man to man, the Devils could have success on offense. Carlos Boozer (4) sets a high screen for Jason Williams (22).
  • Loren Woods (3) must help until Jason Gardner (22) can recover; here, Gardner goes over the screen.
  • Boozer (4), a huge factor against Maryland, rolls to the block. Michael Wright (2) has to give temporary help on Boozer.
  • Shane Battier (31) reads this and breaks to the top of the key, where he gets the pass from Williams (22) for three.
