Outlook
After Princeton lost coach Bill Carmody, star center Chris Young and potential star Spencer Gloger all before last season began, no one would have believed that John Thompson III, promoted from Carmody's staff to head coach, could have guided his team to the NCAA Tournament, breaking Penn's two-year hold on that honor. But that's exactly what Thompson, the son of former Georgetown coach John Thompson, did. And most expect him to do the same thing this season. Thompson returns several key players who led the Tigers to their improbable success, including forward Konrad Wysocki and Andre Logan and guard Ed Persia, each of whom played a critical role as freshmen last season. Wysocki was voted the Ivy's Rookie of the Year. Also back is 6-4 senior guard Ahmed El-Nokali, and 6-7 junior forward Ray Robins returns after a year sabbatical. Princeton also has a pair of 6-10 freshmen in Dominick Martin and Mike Stephens. Glen Miller has done a great job reversing Brown's fortunes -- the Bears had a chance at the league championship in the final weekend a year ago. Brown could contend again behind guard Earl Hunt, who led the Ivy in scoring last season. Penn won't be out of the Ivy hunt, either, behind the inside presence of Ugonna Onyekwe and Koko Archibong. Elon transfer Andy Toole with help, too.
