Wyoming-E. Wash. postponed by snow

Posted: Tuesday March 18, 2003 11:54 AM

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) -- The first-round NIT game between Wyoming and Eastern Washington was postponed because of a major snowstorm that closed roads and highways in wide sections of Wyoming.

The game, originally scheduled for Wednesday night at Laramie, was reset for Thursday at 9 p.m. EST.

Wyoming athletic director Lee Moon said Tuesday if the game cannot be played Thursday night it will be moved to Friday.

If that happens, the first-round Women's NIT game at Laramie between Wyoming and Montana will have to be pushed back to Saturday.

Heavy snow and strong wind were expected to continue into Wednesday. The storm dumped more than 2 feet of snow in the Rockies on Tuesday.

All Wyoming state offices in Cheyenne were shut, and the Postal Service said it would not deliver mail Tuesday in the area. Numerous schools and colleges closed.
