The only incoming transfer in Mike Krzyzewski's 18-year tenure at Duke, McLeod
is the most valuable player on the nation's No. 1-ranked team. An early-season
hesitancy to shoot hasn't been a problem in conference
play. With the loss of Elton Brand, whose brilliant freshman
campaign was cut short in December after breaking his foot, this natural small forward's
rebounding has become more of a priority. Though he does not possess Vince
Carter's talents for above-the-rim magic, McLeod's stock has elevated
substantially. S.D.

If voting for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, the college hoops version of the Heisman, were held right now, Jamison would win it easily.
He has light feet, a knack on the offensive boards, and knows his way
around the low post. Pro scouts aren't sold on his range, but he's so
disciplined that he hardly has to take any outside shots. If Elton Brand
were still healthy for Duke, Jamison's matchup with him on the low block
would be the focal point of Thursday night's matchup. A.W.
