Langdon has finally started looking for his shot after
playing with a sometimes itchless trigger finger the first two months. He worked
hard last summer on his ballhandling and now is more adept
at creating his own shot. But he is still primarily a spot-up shooter, as
deadly as any guard in the country when bestowed the gift of an open look. Langdon
is not a great on-the-ball defender, which is good news
for Williamsuntil Coach K goes to his bench. If Carolina
plays as much zone as it has in recent games, Langdon's ability to hit the open
three will be a major factor. S.D.

Save an abysmal shooting performance in Indianapolis a year
ago at the Final Four, this cousin of Minnesota Timberwolves' star Kevin Garnett
has been remarkably consistent. He's not quite
the pure shooter that Donald Williams was, but then "the Donald" couldn't
go hard to the hole the way "the Shammond" can. Another difference between
Williams and Tar Heels point guard Ed Cota: When Cota drives, a dish or dipsy-do is more likely;
when Williams does, an orthodox-looking shot will probably go up. A.W.
