LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Second-ranked Kansas hopes to improve to 41-1 in its last 42 November contests when it hosts North Carolina-Greensboro in the second round of the Preseason National Invitation Tournament on Friday.
On Tuesday, the Jayhawks routed Holy Cross, 81-57, for their 16th win in 17 all-time Preseason NIT games, including all 13 under coach Roy Williams.
Nick Collison scored 20 points, Keith Langford 15, and Wayne Simien 13 and a career high-tying 11 rebounds as the Jayhawks shot 53 percent from the floor.
Kirk Hinrich also scored 13 points as Kansas' starters scored 67 of the team's 81 points.
The Jayhawks won the Preseason NIT the previous three times they entered the tournament.
UNC-Greensboro defeated Wagner at home in its tournament opener on Tuesday, 84-65 and will play Kansas for the first time.
James May scored 21 points and Ronnie Taylor added 16 for the Spartans, who shot 62 percent.
