EUGENE, Oregon (Ticker) -- Coming off a dominant performance, ninth-ranked Oregon faces Cal-State Northridge in the final of the John Thompson Basketball Challenge.
Oregon (1-0) raised the Pac-10 Conference championship banner Sunday and routed Grambling State, 97-52, for its 17th consecutive home victory.
James Davis drilled seven 3-pointers, one shy of the school record, and Luke Ridnour had 21 points and nine assists as the Ducks played an up-tempo game and tied a team mark with 17 steals. Oregon opened the game with a 23-5 run and coasted to a 42-22 halftime advantage.
Cal-State Northridge (1-1) posted a 67-55 victory over Jacksonville in Sunday's other semifinal. Justice Graham scored 11 points off the bench and Ian Boylan had 10 points and five rebounds as the Matadors overcame a slow start. Cal-State Northridge missed its first five shots, but shot 54 percent in the second half.
