COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- No. 11 Maryland tries to extend its home non-conference winning streak to 86 games on Wednesday night when it hosts The Citadel.
Maryland (1-0) won the first 84 games in its streak at venerable Cole Field House before opening the brand-new Comcast Center with a 64-49 victory over Miami of Ohio on Sunday. Drew Nicholas, one of five seniors to start, led the Terrapins with 16 points.
Ryan Randle netted a career-high 15 points and Steve Blake, the lone returning starter from last year's national championship squad, had nine points and eight assists.
The Terrapins also debuted their highly regarded freshman class. Travis Garrison had eight points and six rebounds and Nik Caner-Medley showed some energy off the bench.
Maryland's last non-conference home loss was a defeat to Coppin State in 1989.
