AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- No. 3 Texas seeks a third straight win to open the season on Wednesday night when it hosts another Southland Conference foe in Texas-Arlington.
Texas (2-0) won its home opener at the Erwin Center with an 81-55 victory over SLC opponent Stephen F. Austin on Saturday. Brandon Mouton scored 18 points and T.J. Ford added nine and 10 assists for the Longhorns.
James Thomas collected 13 points and 15 rebounds for Texas, which opened the season with a victory over Georgia in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Freshman Brad Buckman added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Ford has been the catalyst for Texas this year. The sophomore, who led the nation in assists a year ago, has 31 points and 18 assists in two games.
Texas-Arlington (1-2) fell to 0-2 on the road with a 76-74 loss at Wichita State on Saturday. Derrick Obasohan scored 21 points to lead the Mavericks.
Texas is 32-2 against state opponents under coach Rick Barnes.
