CHAMPAIGN, Illinois (Ticker) -- No. 25 Illinois continues its soft early schedule on Wednesday night when it hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Illinois (1-0) will again be without Brian Cook, a co-preseason Big Ten Player of the Year. Cook and reserve guard Jerrance Howard have been suspended the first two games for participating in an unsanctioned summer tournament.
Without its best player, Illinois posted an easy 90-56 victory over Lehigh on Saturday. The Fighting Illini used a lineup that featured three freshmen and two sophomores and freshman Dee Brown led the way with 14 points.
Illinois' early schedule features five of the first six games at home, with visits by Western Illinois and Eastern Illinois still remaining.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-2) has lost its first two games by a total of 62 points in losses at Georgia Tech and Memphis. The Lions, who are from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, are playing their first five games on the road.
