TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Top-ranked Arizona looks to roll up another lopsided victory on Wednesday night when it hosts Northern Arizona.
Arizona (1-0) had no trouble with Western Kentucky in its opener on Saturday, coasting to a 107-68 victory. The Wildcats placed seven players in double figures, built a 28-point lead at halftime and cruised home in the second half.
Freshman Hassan Adams had a spectacular debut with 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting in 17 minutes and Rick Anderson added 14 in 19 minutes. No Wildcat played more than 26 minutes.
Jason Gardner, the Preseason Pac-10 Conference Player of the Year, and Luke Walton each had 12 points and Channing Frye added 10 and nine rebounds. The Wildcats forced 27 turnovers, thanks to relentless full-court pressure.
Northern Arizona (1-1) split a pair of games in the Mohegan Sun Classic last weekend. The Lumberjacks lost to High Point before a thrilling 99-93 overtime victory over St. Peter's in the consolation game.
Ryan Bond scored 22 points as Northern Arizona withstood a 48-point explosion by St. Peter's freshman guard Keydren Clark. Ryan McDade added 15 and 12 rebounds.
Arizona leads the series, 87-25 and has won 18 straight meetings. Northern Arizona, which has never faced a top-ranked opponent, is 0-14 against ranked opponents.
