STARKVILLE, Mississippi (Ticker) -- No. 23 Mississippi State looks for a third straight victory on its six-game homestand when it hosts Alabama A&M.

Mississippi State (2-1) is playing without its leading returning scorer and rebounder, Mario Austin. The 6-9 center is being held out because it appears that the NCAA will declare him academically ineligible.

The Bulldogs cruised to a 100-65 rout of Jacksonville on Saturday. Timmy Bowers scored 21 points and Winsome Frazier came up with 16 off the bench for Mississippi State, which shot 58 percent and forced 22 turnovers.

Mississippi State's six-game homestand still has visits by Louisiana tech and Jackson State left. The Bulldogs are playing just one non-conference game against a team from one of the top six conferences in the country.

Alabama A&M (1-1) may take its lumps from a Southeastern Conference team for the second straight contest. It has not played since a 68-40 loss at Vanderbilt on November 24.
