GREENSBORO, North Carolina (Ticker) -- No. 2 Duke makes its second trip to the Greensboro Coliseum on Tuesday night and continues its soft non-conference schedule when it meets winless North Carolina A&T.
Duke (6-0) played at this facility on December 3 in a 91-76 victory over Ohio State in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Freshman J.J. Redick scored all 20 of his points in the second half to lead the Blue Devils.
The Greensboro Coliseum is the site of this season's Atlantic Coast Conference tournament and Duke's young players should be familiar with it come March.
Duke has faced only one ranked opponent to this point and does not face another team that is currently ranked until a matchup with Maryland on January 18. The Blue Devils have only one non-conference game scheduled on an opponent's homecourt, a March 2 contest at St. John's.
Coach Mike Krzyzewski has freshmen Redick, Shelden Williams, Sean Dockery and Shavlik Randolph figuring prominently in his rotation as well as sophomore Daniel Ewing. With such a young team, Krzyzewski has decided to use the non-conference portion of the schedule to build confidence for a rugged ACC schedule.
North Carolina A&T (0-4) remained winless after Saturday's 101-63 loss at North Carolina State, another ACC school favoring a soft non-conference schedule. Freshmen Joe Holmes and Steven Koger each scored 17 points for the Aggies.
Duke is 7-0 against North Carolina A&T, including a 93-51 rout on December 16, 2001. The Aggies shot just under 27 percent in that game.
