TULSA, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Oral Roberts tries to notch an upset on Thursday at the Reynolds Center when it visits its cross-town rival, No. 22 Tulsa.
Oral Roberts (6-1) has lost 23 of the last 26 meetings with Tulsa, including the last two in overtime. The Golden Hurricane posted a 73-66 victory over the Golden Eagles on December 1, 2001 in the last meeting as Tulsa's Dante Swanson scored 15 points.
Tulsa (5-1) has won 12 straight home meetings with Oral Roberts. The streak includes one victory at the Reynolds Center and 11 at the old Convention Center.
The Golden Eagles won their first six games to match the best start in school history before suffering a 71-68 loss to Stephen F. Austin on Saturday. Tyrone Tiggs scored 23 points and Reggie Borges added 21 as Oral Roberts fell behind by as many as 12 points and never caught up.
Kevin Johnson collected 16 points and 12 rebounds as Tulsa bounced back from its first loss with a 62-46 victory at Southwest Missouri State on Saturday. Jason Parker added 13 points despite 3-of-13 shooting.
The Golden Hurricane have played tough defense this season, holding four of six opponents to 40 percent shooting or below.
Tulsa owns a 51-9 record all time at the Reynolds Center.
