GAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- No. 13 Florida tries to beat another intrastate opponent while remaining unbeaten at home Saturday afternoon when it hosts Bethune-Cookman.
Florida (9-2) has won five straight and is 3-0 against teams from the state. The Gators already have beaten Florida State, South Florida and Miami.
Matt Bonner scored 17 points and freshman Anthony Roberson added 16 as Florida posted a 74-62 victory over Charleston Southern on Monday after a sluggish first half. The Gators trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half and by two at halftime.
Freshman Matt Walsh added 14 points after his 33-point explosion in Saturday's double-overtime victory at Miami. Walsh made all 14 foul shots in that contest.
Florida is 5-0 at home and has won 34 straight non-conference games at the O'Connell Center.
Bethune-Cookman (1-4) lost for the fourth time in five games with an 81-55 defeat at Louisiana-Lafayette on December 18. Richard Toussaint led the Wildcats with 22 points.
Toussaint is averaging 20.0 points per game to lead the Wildcats. They are playing their first nine games on the road.
Florida is 4-0 against Bethune-Cookman, including a 106-64 rout on December 19, 2000.
