MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- No. 12 Marquette plays its final tuneup before conference play Saturday when it tries to extend its 22-game winning streak against Grambling.
Marquette (7-1) won its 22nd straight home game with an easy 89-57 rout of Elon last Saturday. Dwyane Wade poured in 29 points as the Golden Eagles improved to 6-0 at home.
Wade and the Golden Eagles open play in Conference USA on Monday when they face surprising East Carolina.
Wade is averaging 25.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for Marquette. He is shooting a sizzling 60 percent (81-of-135) from the floor and also has 34 assists.
Marquette's home winning streak includes 21 victories at the Bradley Center and is its longest since 1995-96. The six home wins this year include triumphs against Coppin State, Eastern Illinois and Appalachian State.
Grambling (3-6) lost its third straight, 79-52, to Detroit last Saturday in the consolation game of the Golden Bear Classic. William McDonald scored 16 points to lead the Tigers.
This is Grambling's second game against a ranked opponent. The Tigers suffered a 97-52 loss at Oregon on November 24 in which McDonald scored 16 points.
