OMAHA, Nebraska (Ticker) -- No. 18 Creighton tries to remain unbeaten and match the fourth-best start in school history Sunday when it hosts Southeast Missouri State at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
The Bluejays have won the first nine games for the seventh time in school history. They have not won 10 games to open a season since 1942-43, when they started a school-best 16-0.
Creighton (9-0) remained one of eight unbeaten Division I teams in the nation with an 81-73 victory over intrastate rival Nebraska on December 21.
Kyle Korver scored a season-high 25 points and made 6-of-14 3-pointers. DeAnthony Bowden added 11 points and Tyler McKinney had 10 and 12 assists for the first double-double of his career.
The Bluejays had won their first five games at the Omaha Civic Center by an average of 26 points per game.
Southeast Missouri State (5-5) has alternated wins and losses in its last seven games and posted a 70-53 victory over Southwest Missouri State on December 21.
Derek Winans scored 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting and made 3-of-5 3-pointers. Brandon Griffin had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Indians, who scored the game's first 13 points and shot 65 percent in the first half.
Sunday's game will be the first meeting between Creighton and Southeast Missouri State.
