CHAMPAIGN, Illinois (Ticker) -- Seventh-ranked Illinois will try to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it plays host to Coppin State on Monday.
The Illini (8-1) fell at Memphis on Saturday in their first road game of the season. They have won all five of their games at Assembly Hall this season and have won 24 straight non-conference home games.
Senior forward Brian Cook has scored 1,290 points in his Illinois career, nine behind John Kerr for 16th place on the school's all-time list. Dave Downey is 15th on the list with 1,360 points.
Illinois has played Coppin State (1-8) only once before, posting a 91-55 victory on December 14, 1996.
Coppin State is quite used to the road, having played eight of its nine games away from home. The Eagles' only win so far this season came on December 7 at Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rival Morgan State.
Coppin State has lost three straight games, including a 59-53 setback on Saturday at Oregon State. Coach Fang Mitchell suspeneded freshman guard Labeeb Muhammad for the current road trip for violating team rules.
