DURHAM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Top-ranked Duke hopes to improve to 8-0 when it hosts Fairfield in a non-conference matchup at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Thursday.
Duke (7-0) has gone 8-0 10 times under coach Mike Krzyzewski. Its best mark to begin a season is 17-0, set during the 1991-92 campaign.
The Blue Devils are 147-48 in January under Kryzewski and have won seven straight in the month since a 77-76 upset loss to Florida State last January 6.
Duke won its 17th straight home game on Sunday, 85-74 over Dayton. Freshman J.J. Redick had another impressive outing, scoring a season-high 26 points. Redick made 5-of-7 3-pointers.
Dahntay Jones contributed 15 points and Casey Sanders a career-high 13 as the Blue Devils improved to 162-8 against non-conference opponents at Cameron Indoor Stadium under Krzyzewski.
Fairfield (5-4) had a three-game winning streak snapped on Monday with a 66-64 loss to Charleston Southern in the middle contest of its three-game road trip.
Deng Gai scored 22 points and DeWitt Maxwell added 11 for the Stags, who shot 50 percent in the setback.
The Blue Devils have played the Stags once before, posting a 98-66 triumph on November 14, 1998.
Fairfield coach Tim O'Toole was an assistant at Duke from 1996-97.
