OMAHA, Nebraska (Ticker) -- No. 15 Creighton plays its Missouri Valley Conference home opener on Sunday afternoon when it hosts Drake at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
Creighton (10-1, 1-0 MVC) saw its best start in 60 years end with a 75-73 loss at Xavier on December 31. Kyle Korver drained 8-of-13 3-point attempts for a career-high 32 points to lead the Bluejays.
Korver is five 3-pointers shy of 300 for his career. The preseason MVC Player of the Year is averaging 19.5 points and 5.6 rebounds.
Creighton is 6-0 at home this season, winning by an average of over 27 points.
The Bluejays opened conference play back on December 4 with a 65-52 triumph at Northern Iowa. Larry House scored 19 points while Korver was limited to eight on 2-of-8 shooting.
Drake (5-7, 0-1) had its most memorable moment this season in a 162-110 rout of Division III opponent Grinnell on December 11. J.J. Sola scored a career-high 36 points as the Bulldogs shot 68 percent (60-of-88).
Junior guard Luke McDonald led the MVC in scoring last year and is averaging 14.4 points. Center Greg Danielson leads the conference in rebounding at 8.5 per game.
The Bulldogs have lost three straight and are 1-5 on the road.
Creighton and Drake split two meetings last season, with each winning on the road. The Bluejays lead the series, 77-51, in the most-played rivalry in the MVC.
