STORRS, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Third-ranked Connecticut seeks to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it opens Big East Conference play on Saturday against Miami at Gampel Pavilion.
Connecticut (9-1) played just its second road game on Tuesday and suffered a 73-63 loss at ninth-ranked Oklahoma. The Huskies fell behind by as many as 20 points and rallied to get as close as five before eventually falling.
Star guard Ben Gordon made just 5-of-18 shots and fouled out with 12 points. Tony Robertson helped pick up the slack with 16 points off the bench and freshman Rashad Anderson added 10.
Center Emeka Okafor collected 15 points and 10 rebounds. Okafor is averaging 16.9 points and 12.6 rebounds and also has 53 blocks this season.
The Huskies are 8-0 at home this season, including a 3-0 mark on campus at Gampel Pavilion.
Miami (7-5, 0-1 Big East East Division) opened conference play with a 68-63 loss at West Virginia on Tuesday. James Jones scored 18 points and Darius Rice added 15 for the Hurricanes, who shot just 38 percent (24-of-61).
Jones has been steady in leading the team with an 18.8 scoring average. Rice has been inconsistent as he is shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc although he is still averaging 16.2 points per game.
UConn and Miami split two meetings last season, with the home team winning each game. The Hurricanes have won five of the last eight meetings.
