WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (Ticker) -- No. 23 Purdue puts its undefeated home record on the line when it hosts Michigan in a matchup of Big Ten frontrunners.
Kenneth Lowe scored 23 points as the Boilermakers (16-6, 8-3 Big Ten) maintained their position atop the Big Ten Conference standings with a 70-61 victory over No. 13 Illinois on Saturday.
Purdue is 13-0 at home this season - 6-0 in home conference tilts. The Boilermakers have won 14 straight at West Lafayette overall, last losing on January 8, 2002.
Their perfection at Mackey Arena has propelled the Boilermakers into a first-place tie with the Wolverines and Wisconsin in the Big Ten.
Purdue, which already has won its only meeting with Wisconsin this season, is facing the Wolverines for the first time. The Boilermakers end the regular season at Michigan on March 8.
Daniel Horton scored 21 points and LaVell Blanchard added 19 as the Wolverines (15-9, 8-3) posted their 12th straight home victory with a 70-54 triumph over Ohio State on Saturday. Michigan won despite the fact that junior swingman Bernard Robinson Jr. was held scoreless for the first time in his career, fouling out in 18 minutes.
That victory improved Michigan to just 2-3 since reeling off 13 straight win after an 0-6 start.
The Wolverines, who are 3-4 on the road, have lost their last two visits to Purdue.
Blanchard, the team's leading scorer for the fourth straight season, has 1,720 career points. He needs just five to move into eighth place on the Wolverines' all-time scoring list.
