PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- David West and No. 14 Xavier seek a 10th straight win as they tune up for a huge showdown in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a matchup against LaSalle.
Xavier (18-4, 9-1 A-10 West) is set to visit Dayton on Saturday in a matchup for first place in the West division. But first, the Musketeers must get by the Explorers for the seventh straight time.
West has used Xavier's run to bolster his credentials for national Player of the Year honors. He has 10 straight double-doubles and is averaging 22.8 points and 16.1 rebounds during the winning streak.
Romain Sato nailed a school-record nine 3-pointers and poured in 34 points and West had 26 points and 16 rebounds as Xavier cruised to a 93-70 rout of Rhode Island on Saturday. The Musketeers have won eight of their last nine games by double digits.
Xavier is 4-0 on the road this season in conference play and 6-2 overall. The Musketeers own the fourth longest winning streak in the nation.
West had 18 points and 15 rebounds and Anthony Myles netted 14 points as Xavier posted an 80-47 rout of LaSalle on January 14. The Explorers shot just under 26 percent (165-of-62).
LaSalle (10-11, 4-6) had a brief two-game winning streak halted with a 77-65 loss at Rhode Island last Wednesday. Freshman Gary Neal netted 30 points for his third effort of 30 points or more.
