Nick Jacobson scored a season-high 23 points and Tim Frost 21 as the Utes opened up a two-game lead over the Cougars and the Cowboys.
Utah committed 20 turnovers but made 23-of-25 free throws.
New Mexico (9-15, 3-8) has lost back-to-back games and six of eight.

Utah has won three in a row over New Mexico and 10 of 12. In a 78-68 home triumph on February 3, Mark Jackson scored 20 points in 22 minutes on 6-of-6 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from the line, and Britton Johnsen and Jacobson added 17 points apiece.
