PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Temple will meet local foe Drexel for the first time since 1994 when they match up in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday.
The Owls (15-15) have not played the Dragons (19-11) since March 18, 1994, when they posted a 61-39 victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Temple, which won the NIT in 1938 and 1969, lost to Dayton in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament final on Saturday, 79-72.
The Owls are led by David Hawkins, who averages 16.9 points per game.
Drexel fell to North Carolina-Wilmington in the final of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament, 70-62.
The Dragons are paced by Robert Battle and Eric Schmieder, who average 15.3 and 13.7 points per game, respectively.
